Easter Flower & Bake Sale

April 18th/19th- The Annual Easter Flower and Bake Sale was held on Good Friday and Saturday. All kinds of Easter Flowers, Homemade Pies, Cakes, Candies, Peanut Butter, Coconut and Cherry Eggs, Breads and much more.

Last Week of Operation Easter Egg

April 15th- This was the last week of making homemade Peanut Butter, Coconut and Cherry Easter Eggs. Crews started 8 weeks ago and made 18,000 eggs. Special Thanks to everyone who helped make, sell and consume the eggs. Looking forward to Operation Easter Egg 2015.

2 Morning Crashes to start the Month off

April 1st- Dispatched at 0651 Hrs. to Dickinson Twp. Walnut Bottom Rd & Stonehouse Rd for Auto Accident with Rollover. C6A on the scene with vehicle on its side and occupant still in vehicle. R47 arrived and crew assisted with vehicle stabilization and cut the A, B and C post and rolled the roof down. Occupant was transported by Cumberland Goodwill EMS.

 

 

 

April 1st- Dispatched at 0734 hrs. to West Pennsboro Twp. 315 Mt. Rock Rd for Vehicle Accident. Arrived to find single vehicle off the road, with pole sheared off. Crews assisted EMS with patient packaging and checked vehicle for hazards. Occupant Transported by FHC EMS to local medical facility.

Mutual Aid House Fire

March 31st- Dispatched at 0529 hrs. to Upper Frankford Twp. 271 Potato Road for House Fire. Headquarters advised working fire. Engine 247 arrived and deployed handlines and assisted with extinguishment. Engine 147 established fill site along Potato Road. Crews assisted with salvage and overhaul. Units were released from the scene at 0811 hrs.

Meat Raffle's Benefit Antique Restoration Project

March 20th- Special Thanks to everyone who attended our meat raffle tonight. Small crowd of 70 people gathered and enjoyed BBQ Chicken half, Baked Beans and Applesauce. Meat Raffle's will start back up again on October 16th, 2014. Profits from our Meat Raffle's are going towards the Restoration of our 1916 American LaFrance Rotary Pumper. The antique will be going for a complete restoration in May or June, which is expected to take about a year to complete.

Appreciation Breakfast

March 8th- Members of the Friendship Hose Company were invited to an Appreciation Breakfast, courtesy of Green Ridge Village. Members were treated to Omelets, sausage, bacon, cheesy potatoes, french toast, fresh fruit and drinks. Members of the West Pennsboro Fire Company also attended.

New Brush Truck

March 8th- Members of the FHC have been working over the winters months to get our new Brush Truck ready for service. Newville Borough donated a 2001 Ford F350 to the fire company, a forestry grant got us a new 150 gallon tank and skid unit. Vehicle should be in service by the end of April. Here are a few pictures.

First due Workin' Garage Fire

March 3rd- Dispatched at 2202 hrs. to Upper Mifflin Twp. 290 Middle Road for Garage Fire. E247 arrived to find 3 bays fully involved. E247 wagon-piped the structure, knocking down the majority of the fire, handlines deployed for extinguishment and mop up. Units cleared the scene around 2345 hrs.

Dual Ambulances on Fatal Crash

March 1st- Dispatched at 2338 hrs. to Penn Twp. area of 30 Lebo Road for Vehicle Accident with Entrapment. Units arrived on the scene to find single vehicle wrapped around tree. Class 4 patient and entrapment. EMS units assisted with patient care. 1 patient flown by Lifelion Helicopter and a second transported by ground. E47 was dispatched to establish Landing Zone, but was cancelled by E150 who went responding.

Car VS. Tractor Trailer

February 27th- Dispatched at 0750 hrs. to West Pennsboro Township 127 Log Cabin Road for Vehicle Accident. Arrived on the scene to find single vehicle into tractor trailer. EMS transported 1 patient to local hospital with minor injuries, FD checked vehicles for hazards and spills. Cleaned up debris and released by PSP.

February 4th-  Our Hearts and Prayers go out to Dale Myers Jr., and Denny Clopper who have both been recently hospitalized. Looking for a quick and speedy recovery to both of you. Also keep in mind Tony Altland as he continues to make progress in his recent illness.

 


 

2014 Operation Easter Egg has Began

February 4th-  Operation Easter Egg started Yesterday February 3, when crews got together mixed the product and formed them into eggs. Cooled overnight, today the milk chocolate gets melted and eggs dipped, trimmed and wrapped. Peanut Butter was the only ones made this first week. Coconut and Cherry eggs will also be available starting next week for $1.00 each.

1st Alarm House Fire in Franklin County

January 17th-   Dispatched at 1523 hrs. to Franklin County Lurgan Twp. 15879 Cumberland Highway for House Fire. R47 responded with a crew of 5. Crew arrived and assisted with salvage and overhaul. E247 was also on the scene. Units were          released at 1718 hrs.

2013 Fire Company Banquet

January 17th-   Approximately 130 people attended the 2013 Awards Banquet and Memorial Service. Members and guest were treated to a home cooked meal by the fire company auxiliary. After the meal Pr+esident Wiser introduced special guest who attended including may local dignitaries from the local municipalities and fire companies. January 2nd-   Life Member and Fire Police Lieutenant Richard L. Hurley passed away this evening after a short illness. Family is planning a memorial service and we will post it when it will be held. Please be with Richard's Mother and family.

Trash Truck Overturned

October 7th- Dispatched at 0847 hrs. to the 1600 Blk. of Doubling Gap Road in Lower Mifflin Township for Truck Overturned with Fire and Entrapment. Fire and EMS arrived to find fire put out by bystanders and no entrapment. Rescue and EMS personnel worked together to get the driver out of the truck. Driver was then transported to the Doubling Gap Church Camp where Life Lion Helicopter transported him to local Trauma Center. Roadway remained closed until clean up was complete.

National FIRE PREVENTION WEEK - October 6-12, 2013

October 6th- This week is National FIRE PREVENTION Week. This year's theme is PREVENT KITCHEN FIRES. Member of the FHC along with the other local fire companies will be visiting the local elementary school to help spread this years theme.

County Convention

September 14th-  Members of the FHC attended the Annual Cumberland County Volunteer Firefighters Convention held in Mechanicsburg, PA. Host companies were Co. 23, 27 and 28.  Co. 47 attended with E147, MP47 and"Resolution" Hand Cart. We brought 3rd place for MP47, 1st Place Hand Cart and Best Appearing Company 3 or less pieces. Great job by everyone who went.

 

 


 

Crash with Entrapment

September 6th-  Dispatched at 1425 hrs. to Cooke Twp. 1700 blk. Centerville Road for Vehicle Accident with Entrapment. Co. 50 arrived on the scene to find single vehicle into tree with heavy entrapment. R47 and crew arrived and immediately because extrication from the passenger side, Co. 50 & 49 working on drivers side. Removed 4 doors, entire roof, dash and other small pieces to finally free driver about an hour after arrival. Drivers was then flown via Life Lion Helicopter from Co. 50 station. Great Team working.

Skid Loader Fire

August 15th-  Dispatched at 1232 hrs. to Box 451-01, Upper Mifflin Twp. Mountain Road in the area of the Gamelands for Skid Loader Fire. E247 arrived to find large skid loader well involved. Handline off E247 for extinguishment. PA Game Commission was working on clearing areas when vehicle caught fire. No Injuries and Thanks to Chief 49 for his assistance.

Single Vehicle Crash

August 7th-  Dispatched at 2157 hrs. to North Newton Twp. 535 Shippensburg Road for Vehicle Accident. Arrived on the scene to find single vehicle that left the roadway, struck utility pole and pine tree. No injuries. FD checked for hazards and spills.

Crash Interrupts Early Morning Commute

August 6th-  Dispatched at 0511 hrs. to 100 Blk. of Centerville Road at the Newville Borough/West Pennsboro Twp. Line for Vehicle Accident. Arrived on the scene to find single vehicle into utility pole, pole and wires down, and driver out of vehicle. No injuries. Fire Police remained on the scene until 1100 hrs. directing traffic.

Convention Parade

August 3rd-  The "Resolution", our hand cart participated in the Cumberland Valley Annual Fireman's Parade which was held in Shippensburg, PA. The Resolution was pulled by a pair of Percherons Horses named Kate & Della. Thanks to the Bunning Family for the horses and riders. The Resolution won first place.

July 13th-  Dispatched at 1014 hrs. to North Newton Twp. 100 Blk. of Oakville Rd for Vehicle Overturned into Utility Pole. Crews arrived to find occupant out of vehicle. EMS attended to and transport patient to local hospital. E147 / R47 crew staged before being placed available by Command 49. Fire police assisted with traffic control.

Firefighter's have Winning Team in Barn Yard Olympics

July 11th-  Two groups of Newville Firefighters participated along with 6 other teams in the Annual Newville Fair Barn Yard Olympics. Team Newville FIRE was crowned the 2013 Champions. Team Members consisted of Nathaniel Bigler, Jake Griffie, Michael Hamilton and Brad Stouffer. Members participated in several events including, Tractor Tire Roll (blind folded), Cantaloupe Toss, Egg Relay, and Farmer Feeds him Calve (Live Person) his milk. Great time had by all and Rumor has it Team Newville FIRE will be headed to the Shippensburg Fair to defend the Title.

Life Member and former Driver Passes Away

June 27th-  Life Member and former Driver/Engineer John R. Hurley passed away today June 27. Our Hearts and Prayers go out to the John Hurley Family.

 

 


 

Life Member and Financial Secretary Passes Away

June 10th-  Life Member and current Financial Secretary Doris L. Heberlig passed away early this morning after a long battle. Our Hearts and Prayers go out to the Heberlig and Wiser Families. Funeral Arrangements are as follows. Viewing will be Wednesday June 12th 6-9 pm, Funeral Service will be Thursday June 13th at 1:30 pm. Both viewing and service will be held at the Bricker-Fogelsanger Funeral Home in Shippensburg.

 

 

 

 


 

Crash on the "I"

June 7th-  Dispatched at 0927 Hrs to Penn Twp. I-81 SB MM 35 for Vehicle Accident. Headquarters advised 3-4 vehicles involved and one came across the median and hit Tractor Trailer Head On. E147 arrived on the scene to find 2 entrapped. Crews went to work to extricate the victims. Crews were assisted by other departments on the call. Coroner called to the scene. Roadway remained closed until around 1530 hrs. Great job by Everyone!!

Crash in West Pennsboro

May 24th-  Dispatched at 1517 hrs. to West Pennsboro Twp. Newville Road and  Bloserville Road for Auto Accident with Entrapment. Crew arrived to find no entrapment. R47 crews assisted both 47 ambulances with patient care and packaging, remaining crew assisted with fluid control.

House Fire in Penn Township

May 23rd-  Dispatched at 2017 hrs. to Penn Township 604 Mt. Rock Road for House Fire. House was struck by lightning. E247 arrived and sent crews interior to assist with extinguishment. E247 supplied E46 and also had 2 handlines off. Crews assisted with extinguishment, salvage and overhaul. Units remained on the scene until 2254 hrs.

Firefighter/EMT now home from Vehicle Accident

May 24th-  We are glad to see and hear that Bobby Burchfield is now home from injuries he sustained in a vehicle accident last month. Our prayers to you as you continue to recover.

 


 

Firefighter/EMT Seriously Injured in Accident

April 27th-  Our Hearts and Prayers go out to Local Firefighter/EMS Robert "Bobby" Burchfield. Bobby and his daughter were involved in a vehicle accident in Perry County. Bobby was flown to Hershey Medical Center and is in serious condition, his young daughter was treated and released. Please keep Bobby in your Thoughts and Prayers as he recovers.

 

 

 


 

Fire Chief Killed at Accident Scene

April 27th-  Our Hearts and Prayers are with York County Fire Station 63 "Loganville".  Fire Chief Rodney Miller was fatally struck and killed on I-83 early this morning, while operating at the scene of a Vehicle Accident. Please keep the members of Station "63" and Chief Miller's Family in your Thoughts and Prayers over the next couple of weeks.  R.I.P.

MUTUAL AID TO PERRY COUNTY

April 23rd- Dispatched at 0332 hrs. to Perry County Borough Landisburg 108 E. Main Street for House Fire. Engine 147 responded with a crew of 6, laid 1100' 5" to the scene and supplied Truck 39. Crew members assisted with Extinguishment, salavge and overhaul. Crews remained on the scene until around 0830 hrs. Thanks to E154 crew for the Tranfer.

March 19th- Dispatched at 2021 hrs. to Lower Mifflin Twp. 816 Doubling Gap Road for House Fire. Headquarters advised occupant arrived home to find house on fire. Arrived on the scene to find working house fire. Handlines and Master Stream off E147 for extinguishment. Crews were hampered by windy conditions and lack of water at the beginning. Mother and 3 children being assisted by Red Cross. Tankers hauled water from pond on Shed Road.

HOUSE FIRE IN 1st DUE

February 12th- Dispatched at 2230 hrs. to Lower Mifflin Twp. 515 Shed Road for House Fire. E247 arrived to find half of house fully involved. Crews pulled handlines off E247 and E248 for extinguishment. House was a total loss, as well as carport, motorcycle and car. Residents were assisted by Red Cross and are staying locally with relatives. Great job by everyone.

February 11th- Dispatched at 1344 hrs. to North Newton Twp. 720 Green Spring Road for Auto Accident, Vehicle on its side. Arrived to find single vehicle on its side. Secured the vehicle and assisted occupant out of vehicle. No Injuries.

January 25th- Dispatched at 1556 hrs. to West Pennsboro Twp. 3463 Ritner Highway for Auto Accident Truck on its side. Arrived on the scene to find driver still in vehicle, legs around the steering wheel. Crews cut A&B post, windshield and rolled the roof down. EMS attended to patient and transported to local hospital.

January 25th- Dispatched at 1415 hrs. to West Pennsboro Twp. Mt. Rock Rd and Graham Rd. for Vehicle Accident. Arrived on the scene to find single vehicle struck pole and tree. Both Occupants out of vehicle, EMS transported both tom local hospital.

BARN FIRE

January 4th- Dispatched at 1026 hrs. to Hopewell Twp. 150 Quigley Road for Barn Fire. C351 on the scene with working fire. E247 arrived after E151 and was water supply engine. Fold a tank operation established, remaining crew assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Crews remained on the scene until around 1800 hrs.

October 6th - Members of the FHC attended the Lowe's of Shippensburg Annual Safety Day. Lot's of Fire and EMS Units on display along with, Aero-medical Helicopters, Fire Truck Bouncy House and a special Visit from Smokey the Bear. Memebrs of the FHC wore Pink T-Shirts to show there support for Breast Cancer Awareness.

9-1-1 MEMORIAL SERVICE

September 11th - Members of the Friendship Hose Company and surrounding fire companies attended the 9-1-1 Memorial Services held the the Fountain in Newville. Firefighters. EMS, Police Officers and citizens came together to remember all those who lost their lives 11 years ago.

MILK TANKER OVERTURNED W/ENTRAPMENT

September 5th - Dispatched at 1203 hrs. to Lower Mifflin Twp. Roxbury Road just off Doubling Gap Road for Vehicle Accident involving Milk Tanker Truck. Crews arrived on the scene to find driver of vehicle laying beside the truck with his legs trapped underneath. Crews worked to free the driver and he was then transported to Landing Zone. Crews also worked to contained milk spill.

August 31st - Dispatched at 12717 hrs. to the 200 blk. of Brandy Run Road in Upper MIfflin Twp. for Vehicle Accident with Rollover. Arrived on the scene to find truck back upright and driver out of vehicle. EMS requested Aero-medical to fly to the scene. Crews assisted EMS with patient and also checked truck for spills and leaks. Truck was hauling fertilizer, no spills or leaks.

July 21st - Dispatched at 1953 hrs. to West Pennsboro Twp. 192 Carlisle Road for Auto Accident with Entrapment. Lt. 141 on the scene confirming 2 subjects trapped in single vehicle. Crews arrived on the scene and began extrication of victims. EMS requested aeromedical to respond. Both subjects extricated from wreckage in 20 minutes. EMS transported both subjects to Big Spring High School for Landing Zone. Life Lion and Stat13 both transported. Great job by everyone involved.

ENTRAPMENT IN THE MOUNTAINS

June 14th - Dispatched at 1352 hrs. to Lower Mifflin Twp. Elk Hill Rd off Doubling Gap Rd for Dump Truck down embankment with entrapment. Units arrived to find dump truck into a tree with male driver entrapped. Crews worked for the next 65 minutes to free the driver from the wreckage. Rescue personnel had to stand on ladders on drivers side due to steep terrain. Driver was then transported by ground to Hershey Medical Center.

ASSIST ON FATAL ACCIDENT

June 11th - Dispatched shortly before noon to Penn Twp. Walnut Bottom Road and Centerville Road for Auto Accident. Headquarters advised the Lt. 247 on the scene with 3 ejected from vehicle and requested Aeromedical Services to fly. Fire and EMS units arrived to find a total of 10 in the van, 1 in dump truck and 1 class 4. A147 and A247 took 3 patients to Co. 50 station to be flown. Co. 50, 49 and 47 personnel assisted the remaining patients. A total of 6 BLS, 3 ALS and 3 Aeromedical Services were used.

STORM DAMAGE

June 3 - Dispatched at 1740 hrs. to Lower Mifflin Township 39 Roxbury Road for Structure Damage from Storm in the area. Crews arrived and found metal roof blown completely off house. However house had a shingle roof underneath, no other damage to the structure. Assisted removing metal roof to secure area.

LANDING ZONE ASSIGNMENT

May 30th - Dispatched shortly after 1800 hrs. to Upper Frankford Twp. 390 Mohawk Road for vehicle accident. Fire and EMS arrived to find single vehicle into tree with unresponsive subject. Aeromedical services were requested and Rescue 47 was assigned to handle the Landing Zone. LZ48 was established at Mohawk and Hunters Roads. Assisted with getting patient into Life Lion Helicopter. No other services required.

May 28th - Newville Memorial Day Parade was held today. 1916 American LaFrance Antique made it's first appearance in several years. Steve Salisbury was the driver and Bruce Conover, X Fire Chief and longtime member was riding shotgun.

RITNER HIGHWAY CRASH

May 23rd - Dispatched at 1534 Hrs. to West Pennsboro Twp. 3571 Ritner Highway for Vehicle Accident with poss. entrapment. 2nd call advising all occupants out of vehicles. EMS arrived and checked on occupants, all refusing treatment. Fire Dept. checked vehicles for hazards and spills. Small fluid spill controlled with hi-dry. Fire Police assisted with traffic control, no other services required.

FIREFIGHTER 1 ACADEMY ALMOST DONE

May 19th - About 2 dozens men and women from several fire companies have been Training to become Firefighter 1 certified. Friendship Hose Company hosted the class which started in the end of February and will finish up in early June. Firefighters are from Co. 47, 36, 41, FC11, FC21 and PC4. Last Saturday was structure burn class at the Franklin County Training Center.

MEMBER, FRIEND AND NEIGHBOR PASSES AWAY

May 9th - Member, Friend and Neighbor Carson W. Kaltenbaugh passed away today after a recent battle with health problems. Carson had lived beside the fire station ever since it became the fire station. He was always sitting on the porch and when someone pulled into the fire station he always made small talk. Carson got the nickname of "CHIEF B", which came from him saying I'll "B" here when you guys leave and "B" here when you guys get back from a call. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Kaltenbaugh Family who on April 9, lost Carson's brother and member Emmett Kaltenbaugh. Funeral arrangements will be posted on here when they become available. Carson joined June 13, 1989.

Viewing will be Monday May 14, 2012 from 6-8 pm @ Ewing Brothers in Carlisle

Funeral will be Tuesday May 15, 2012 @ 2pm @ Ewing Brothers in Carlisle

 


 

LAWN MOWER FIRE W/ BURN VICTIM

May 9th - Dispatched at 1445 hrs. to North Newton Township 723 Greenspring Road for Lawn Mower Fire. Crews arrived to find Zero Turn Mower well involved. Crews extinguished and also discovered that mower was sitting next to shed which was also damaged. Owner did pull mower from shed for it caught fire. Owners son was filling the mower when it caught fire, he did receive 1st and 2nd degree burns to his arm and hand.

FOGGY MORNING CRASH

May 4th - Dispatched at 0722 hrs. to West Pennsboro Twp. 45 Mt. Rock Rd for Vehicle Accident. Fire and EMS arrived to find 2 vehicles involved. 1 vehicle on roadway and other off road and into the grass at Mt. Rock Elementary School. Fire and EMS attended to child in vehicle and assisted with removal, debris clean up. Special thanks to the Fire Police and Officer Szczypta with Newville PD for their  assistance.

EASTER SUNDAY MOUNTAIN FIRE

April 8th- Dispatched at 1327 hrs. to Perry County Southwest Madison Twp. 3099 Laurel Run Road for Mountain Fire. E247, B47 and A247 responded along with several other units and the Piney Mountain Strike Team. Crews assisted with fire lines, containment and extinguishment. Units cleared the scene around 2130 hrs.

April 6th & 7th- Annual Easter Flower and Bake Sale was held. Flowers, Baked Goods and Chicken BBQ was available on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a successful.

April 4th- Dispatched at 1550 hrs. to Upper Mifflin Twp. 115 Pine Knob Road for Garage Fire. E247 and C147 arrived to find 3 bay garage fully involved. Handlines off E247 and E251 for extinguishment. Crews assisted with salvage and overhaul. Fire Marshall called to investigate. Units cleared the scene around 1800 hrs.

March 25th- Dispatched at 0537 to South Newton Twp. 2200 Ritner Highway for House Fire. E49 arrived to find light smoke from structure. E247 crew arrived and assisted with Extinguishment, salvage and overhaul. Crews remained on the scene until 0652 hrs.

March 16th- Dispatched at 1518 Hrs. to Borough Newville are of 76 E. Main Street for Vehicle Accident. Fire & EMS arrived on the scene to find parked vehicle struck by another vehicle. EMS Transported 1 patient to local hospital and fire dept. checked vehicle for hazards and leaks.

CONFINEMENT AND FLY OUT ON 81

March 9th- Dispatched at 1145 hrs. to Dickinson Twp. I81 NB MM 40 for Vehicle Accident. Crews arrived on the scene to find single vehicle into guardrail. Crews removed roof of vehicle to gain access and remove patient from vehicle. Victim was flown by Life Lion Helicopter. Units cleared around 1230 hrs.

BATHROOOM FIRE

March 5th- Dispatched mid morning to North Newton Twp. 141 Doubling Gap Road for Electrical Fire. Crews arrived to find house filled with smoke and found fire on 1st floor in the bathroom. Fire had extended from a Light/Fan fixture into the ceiling and into a void space on the second floor. Crews performed salvage and overhaul on both floors.

OVERTURNED AND FLYOUT

February 29th- Dispatched at 0445 hrs. to West Pennsboro Twp. Carlisle Road and Bloserville Road for Auto Accident Vehicle Overturned. Fire and EMS arrived on the scene to find female driver laying in corn field. Assisted EMS with patient packaging and checked vehicle for hazards. Victim transported to Co. 46 to meet Life Lion Helicopter. R47 & E148 remained on the scene until 0605 hrs.

February 16th- Dispatched at 0800 hrs. to Hopewell Twp. 199 Booz Road for House Fire. Units on the scene with working fire. E247 and R47 responded with a crew of ten and assisted with extinguishment, salvage and overhaul.

SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT WITH FLYOUT

February 8th- Dispatched at 1027 Hrs. to Ritner Highway and Springfield Rd for vehicle accident with subject laying on the ground. EMS and Fire arrived to find male subject unresponsive laying in the field. Crews assisted EMS with patient and checked vehicle for hazards. Rescue crew established Landing Zone and assisted with transporting patient to Life Lion Helicopter.

February 7th- Operation Easter Egg 2012 is underway. Peanut Butter Eggs were made the first week. Plans are to start this week making Peanut Butter and Coconut. Eggs are $1.00 each and available at the fire station or by calling 776-4747.

2011 AWARDS BANQUET

January 20th- Roughly 120 people attended the Annual Awards Banquet tonight. We also remembered five (5) members who died during last year, they were: James Kuhns, Janet Conover (Life Member), Harold (Pete) Heckendorn (Life Member), Wilmer Hefflefinger (Life Member), and Melissa Morris. Fire and EMS Awards were presented along with Most Dedicated Member, Dean Baker Award, and special life saving recognition. Life Membership was also presented to John Gilbert, Doris Salisbury and Charlotte Nailor. Doris Heberlig received Most Dedicated Member, but was unable to be present due to an illness. Get well soon  Doris.

On February 14, 2011 Rescue 47 was on transfer to Franklin County Station 4. While there Rescue 47 was dispatched to House Fire in Chambersburg Borough 270 Lincoln Way West. Firefighter Roger Neidigh assisted several other firefighters with the rescuing of a 13 yrs old female from the second floor. Roger was Honored by Liberty Mutual with the Firemark Award for outstanding act of valor done selflessly and without due regard for personal safety. Roger was also surprised when the victim that day Carlita Neely was introduce. She wanted to come and Thank Roger for his Life Saving Actions.

January 17- Dispatched at 1840 Hrs. to North Newton Twp. Fry Rd & Finkenbimder RD for Vehicle Accident. Arrived on the scene to find single vehicle struck utility pole. FD secured vehicle, EMS treated and transported 1 patient to Carlisle Regional.

DUAL ENGINES ON APARTMENT BUILDING FIRE

January 16- Engine 147 dispatched at 0139 hrs. to Transfer to Co. 52. Soon after arrival, E147 sent to scene of Apartment Bldg, Fire, Borough Shippensburg 130 E Garfield St. Crews assisted with Fire Attack on 2nd and 3rd floors. E247 was dispatched at 0209 and assisted with salvage and overhaul. Crew of 10 remained on the scene until 0530 hrs. Special Thanks to the "U" for the standby.
